Frank Tiringer knew he needed something more powerful than a PDA if he really wanted to take his work as an appraiser on the road.  He met Allegiance Technology Partners, Inc. at an appraiser show and was soon convinced that a tablet PC could help him change the way he worked.photo_appraisal.jpg

“My goal was to expedite work from the field,” he said.  “I needed something mobile to help me download photos and to sketch, as well as for internet and email access.   The tablet PC really fit my needs.”

Frank estimates that he is doing 30 percent more work now that he is using his tablet.  “I can do more work now and get it done quicker.  Instead of doing one or two inspections in an afternoon, I am doing four. “

Frank uses his tablet PC to download photos and fill out appraiser forms in the field, then email them instantly.    He no longer does reports from the office, since he is now able to do them directly from the field.

“WinTotal is a great program for this,” said Frank.  “It has all the appraiser forms I need and makes things go very quickly.  I work with a management company and they are surprised at how quick my turnaround is for them.  What used to take 24 hours or so to get to them can now be filled out and emailed instantly.”

Frank would definitely recommend a tablet PC to any appraisers looking to get ahead.

“The mobility alone is priceless.  I can do research in the field now; fill out my forms, download and email.  This tool has changed the way I work.”

As an appraiser, Dean Prescott needed to fill out forms and information on the road.  He was looking for something to help him with this, to save time and help him earn more.

Dean had been looking at tablet pcs for a while, and when he saw the ALLTP booth at an appraisal expo, he knew the time was right.

“The tablet had WinTotal loaded, which was very interesting to me.  I knew that Motion tablets were rated highly, and it was nice to see the whole system in play,” said Dean.

Dean was pleased with his tablet right away. “I am not a typist, and it is phenomenal the way the tablet can read my handwriting.”  He is now able to cut and paste certain portions of his reports and complete his reports on the road. He uses his tablet to check off certain items in appraisals and also uses it for sketching and as a worksheet.

“I may be on site a few minutes longer, but in the end, I am saving a lot of time,”
said Dean.  “I don’t need to retype all my reports—they are finished on site.  I don’t forget to write certain things down anymore either.”

Dean has found that with his tablet PC, he is able to complete home inspections and reports 25 percent faster.  “I save three times that amount of time in the office as well.  I don’t need a typist now, which saves me time and money.  There is so much more I am able to do.”

According to Dean, tablet PCs are the future in the appraisal business.  “Guys like me can now do the physical inspection, do the comps and email the report before they have even left the area.  I hope to increase my rates with this new level of service; my tablet is helping me reach my financial goals.”
